Engineers Who Made Every Indian Proud

India is moving very fast to become a developed country. For years, the country has been offering highly talented engineers to the world. A significant portion of its credit goes to the engineering colleges across India that provide high-quality education to help the students build a great career and serve the world. Indian engineers are hired by leading multinational companies. Hard work, proven talent and a supreme position in their respective organizations are the traits of Indian engineers.

While the list is actually quite long, let’s know about some of those brilliant engineers who made India proud.

Sundar Pichai

The current CEO of Google, Sundar Pichai did his engineering in computer science from IIT Kharagpur. Pichai worked in companies like Applied Materials and McKinsey & Company before joining Google. He is known for being the mastermind behind the launch of Google Chrome browser.

NR Narayan Murthy

One of the most successful IT businessmen in India, NR Narayan Murthy is the founder of software giant Infosys, which enjoys a global repute. He graduated in electrical engineering from the University of Mysore and did his M. Tech from IIT Kanpur. Under his leadership, Infosys became the first Indian firm to feature on Nasdaq.

Satya Nadella

Hailed from Hyderabad, Satya Nadella is the CEO of Microsoft since February 2014. Graduated from the Manipal Institute of Technology, Nadella, did his MS in Computer Science from Wisconsin University and MBA from Chicago University.

Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal

Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal, the duo which founded India’s leading e-commerce firm Flipkart is the product of IIT Delhi. With an aim to meet the demands of all the Indian buyers, Sachin and Binny left their jobs in Amazon and Sarnoff Corporations respectively and founded Flipkart in 2007.

Kalpana Chawla

Kalpana Chawla, the first Indian woman who went into space made India immensely proud and proved that Indian women can do anything! Graduated from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh, Kalpana got her Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Texas, Arlington. In 1988, she joined NASA and worked in NASA’s STS-87 and STS-107 space missions.

Padmasree Warrior

The former CEO of NIO, US, the former Chief Technology & Strategy Officer (CTO) of Cisco Systems, and the former CTO of Motorola, Padmasree Warrior is from Andhra Pradesh and a graduate from IIT, Delhi. In 2014, she was ranked as the 71st most powerful woman in the world by Forbes and stood 84th on the same list in 2015.

Pranav Mistry

Pranav Mistry, the Global Vice President of Research at Samsung is a successful computer scientist and investor. He is best known for his work, SixthSense, Samsung Galaxy Gear and Project Beyond. Mistry was honored by the World Economic Forum with the Young Global Leaders – 2013 award.

Conclusion: India is recognized for producing notable engineers since 1860s. The great Indian engineers bring glory to the country by applying theories of science to solve practical problems in the world around them. Had not the successful engineers of the past and present as well been toiled, we couldn’t have found ourselves in the advanced age we are living currently.
